The TV show Friends is an American sitcom that aired for ten years, from 1994 to 2004. The show is about six close friends who all live in the same apartment complex in Manhattan, New York. There is plenty of both secret telling and keeping, and their relationships are quite admirable. The main characters include Phoebe Buffay(Lisa Kudrow), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Rachel Greene (Jennifer Aniston), Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), and Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc). Their favorable hang out is Central Perk, a cafe near their apartment complex. Despite breakups, spats, and disagreements, these friends always come back to each other.

I think in part what makes the show so captivating is that all six have completely different personalities. Phoebe is quirky, Rachel is ditsy, Monica is a control freak, Chandler is anxious, Ross is geeky, and Joey is ludicrous. Somehow, all of these different personalities fit and create a provocative and exclusive scene in every episode. All episodes are titled with: “The One With”.  Some examples are: ‘The One Where No One Is Ready’, featuring all of the friends taking longer than expected to get ready to go to an event Ross is in at a museum, and ‘The One With The Embryos’, where the friends create a game show and compete to see what team knows more about the personal lives of the other.

Friends was a big attraction when first aired. The first episode was in September of 1994. What I especially like about this show is that the relationship with the friends grew as the show continued. When becoming comfortable with one another, they would drop everything just to be there for their friends. This is why the theme song of the show, I’ll Be There For You, fits perfectly. The show flows along with enthusiastic characters who make the audience laugh. It’s so hard to pick a favorite character because they all play powerful roles. Unfortunately, the show ended in 2004 due to Jennifer Aniston’s movie offers (Garewal). She wanted to take advantage of the offers given to her, but the show was getting in the way of that.

This comedy is fit for anyone who likes over-the-top humor. I cannot remember one episode that didn’t have even a few funny scenes in it. Although this show is probably not fit for children, it’s very unique and I highly recommend it.
