The Belfast community is proud to welcome Mr. JD Struckmann as our new General Music and Choir teacher. Mr. Struckmann lived in Niagara County, graduated from Royalton Hartland High School near Lockport, and is thrilled to return to the area to teach in a smaller school!

After high school, Mr. Struckmann attended Valparazo University, and later, Queens College in New York. After college, Mr Struckmann taught in in Brooklyn NY, Queens NY , and Houston TX, in schools of all shapes and sizes, including small Lutheran schools.

When I asked Mr. Struckmann what he would bring to our program, he said, “I am here to do what the students are interested in, and what there is time for. I would never start a group for myself that did not interest the students.”

Mr Struckmann has a real knack for engaging with students of all ages, interacting with his choirs through jokes and games, while still holding high expectations for his students. Perhaps this comes from being a parent to two boys. His son Stephen attends our school as a freshman, and his eldest son attends college.

We can’t wait to see how far Mr. Struckmann will take us this year, and for many years to come!
