A Girl’s Best Friend

A+Girls+Best+Friend

Sarah Lindo

I am truly not a great fan of school; to be honest, I hate every single minute of it. But I enjoy things like band, friends, or reading. Anyhow, I was experiencing all the negatives one random day of school. From what I remember, I was in third or fourth grade: I woke up late, unable to prepare myself, failed a test, was getting annoyed by students, had lots of homework, bad lunch, was tired etc. As you can see, it was a pretty horrific day.

I was pretty angry at first when I arrived at my house after the long bus ride, but I evolved into a state of confusion. On the table was a gray crate that then was put on the floor and opened up. Everybody was silent and stared at what was going to come out of the black hole in the crate. Five seconds later, a little beige and white coated, bug brown eyed baby boy chihuahua walked out. At first, he was really shy and frightened. He was so scared, his legs were really weak and shaking non-stop. He was six months old at the time, but then he grew to be my best friend.

As a family, we all voted on the name Chico because of where they originate (Mexico). Over the years, Chico developed traits, talents, and nicknames from me that only he can posses. Chico can smile if you bribe him or if he is just wanting attention. Also, when I play my clarinet, he howls along and it is hilarious. I nicknamed him “Wam,” even though it means nothing and is just an onomatopoeia, he still responds to it either way. You the reader: may just think and take Chico as a another dog in the world. Trust me, the breed of Chihuahuas is common, but Chico is rare. Unlike other people, I am not ashamed to express my love for that dog. Honestly he is one of the only things in the world that actually makes me feel happy. You don’t understand; Chico and I have been through a lot together. Some of Belfast even know him because I used him for my symposium.

Chico is now nearly nine years old, but still acts like a baby. In the years I have spent with him, I’ve developed an unbreakable relationship with him that I will cherish forever. Chico is the smartest, most sly dog I know. When he does something he knows he is not supposed to do, he smiles, hides, and ducks his head. He does stupid stuff too. He tries to sleep standing up in the middle of the hallway. It makes no sense, but it is pretty funny because he gets woken up non-stop. Any type of music he hears, (except live instruments) he naps through. I love Chico more than anything, which is why I even wrote this. You should really get a dog; it is worth it. You will have a very loyal best friend that will be ready to spend time with you any day. The best part of a dog is the relationship you can develop with them, and they will always have your back.

I only know one creature that is my only true friend.

We have been in a pack together and will always blend.

Although he’s one dog, he is really hard to tend.

Too bad he wins you over with that smile he sends.

While I am at school, he waits and depends on my return,

but on the weekends we have a lot of time to spend.

His actions are like jokes that are so hilarious, but only I can comprehend.

His heart is always ready to lend, and when you’re alone,

he will be prepared to defend anyone who offends.

As little as he is, Chico has a lot of ken. He needs a lot of attention, but sometimes is just extra and it is all pretend.

Our relationship will never end, because in every event, one of us will be there to attend.

Chico’s love is so strong it vends and will never stop to append.

Chihuahuas should really be the new trend, it’s a breed I would really recommend.

If a dog competition ever comes up, just let a Chihuahua contend.

I love my dog so much that we will be friends till the end.

I’m so glad that he is the only thing that I truly befriend.
