Chapters 1 and 2 of this novel were published in previous editions of The Beacon.

Everyone gasped in unison. Even Hawking raised his eyebrows in surprise.

“Why would you do that?!” I asked him.

“I didn’t know he was evil! He seemed so nice at first… and then he turned on me, and next thing I knew I was in this ship, and he was chasing after me, so I hid in the bathroom, and he lost sight of me. I am really sorry, this is all my fault.” Bill explained.

Bill then hid his face in his hands.

Steve touched Bill’s shoulder.

“It’s all right, Bill. We’ll find a solution to this mess. Right guys?” Steve asked.

The men in the group nodded, but Marie looked at Steve with a raised eyebrow.

“And girls, too.” Steve corrected himself.

Marie smiled.

“Thank you.” Marie said.

A few minutes later, most of us were busy doing something. Hawking was helping Bill do some calculations, Einstein was trying to figure out how long it would take us to get home, Newton was fascinated by the loss of gravity in the ship, Abraham was wondering how he got there, Marie was experimenting with dangerous chemicals with safety stuff of course (Because I made her), Bill Nye was trying to explain to Newton why we float in space.

But me and Steve were doing the most dangerous job, trying to sneak into HAL’s “brain” to shut him down.

“So why is this so dangerous, Steve?” I asked him.

“It’s dangerous because I haven’t done this before, I might get hurt. If I do get hurt, go and get the others!” Steve explained to me.

I nodded.

Steve then went inside the door to HAL’s “brain”.

After about 20 minutes, I heard a ZAP and then Steve screaming bloody murder!

I ran to look into there, and Steve’s arm had a huge gash on it.
