Last Saturday, at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, our Belfast Bulldogs beat the Prattsburg Vikings 60-55, taking the Section 5 Class D2 title for the first time since 1940.

There was a huge turnout of Belfast supporters in the stands, including the Varsity Cheerleaders and the Bulldog mascot. The Bulldogs played very well as a team and kept control of the game.

The team was led scoring wise by #23, senior Adam Enders, who pulled off an impressive basket from behind the backboard, assisted by #22, senior Kevin McCumiskey. Adam Enders also had the highest number of rebounds. Kevin McCumiskey, Carter Guilford (#42, junior), and Adam Enders all secured places on the All-Tournament team, with Adam Enders as the Tournament MVP. #40, senior Alex Enders was awarded with the sportsmanship award. Coach, Joe Hennessy was awarded with a Coach of the Year Award.

The boys also took on the Mount Morris Blue Devils on Thursday night. Again, they were victorious with a 54-43 win. The three seniors (Adam, Kevin, and Alex) were on fire in the second half especially, and each came out with a couple of three-pointers.

In this game, we once again saw the Bulldogs’ ability not only to play as a team, but also to adapt to whatever comes their way. There was also an amazing turnout and show of support from Belfast fans, which is what we are hoping to see this Saturday when our Belfast Bulldogs take on the Panama Panthers at Greece Athena for the Far West Regionals.
