Alumni Spotlight: Suzy Male (Jones)

Alumni+Spotlight%3A++Suzy+Male+%28Jones%29

Suzy Male (Jones) graduated from Belfast Central School in 2002. From there, she went to SUNY Geneseo, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006. Then, in 2015, she graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with an MBA in marketing. She now lives in Arkport, NY with her husband, Tim, their five children, two dogs, two horses, and one cat. Her hobbies include skiing, hiking, horseback riding, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts.

Some of the jobs she had had over the years are an E-commerce marketing manager for an international beauty brand and then a Director of Marketing at Swain Resort. She said her work at Swain was “incredibly fulfilling.” Suzy has recently taken a job as Community Relations & Marketing Coordinator for Jones Memorial Hospital. “I am honored to have a role in bringing awareness and voice to our local community hospital and medical system.”

Her advice for students is to always study as hard as you can, have a good work ethic, and most importantly, to not be afraid to ask questions. That’s how you learn. Everyone will encourage you to ask questions, including job trainers, college professors, and employers. Her best advice for upcoming seniors is to tour as many campuses as possible because you cannot really get a feel for the culture and setting if you don’t experience it first-hand. Suzy said that one of her top colleges got moved to the bottom of her list because she didn’t like the campus after seeing it in person.

Suzy’s best memory from Belfast was when she met her husband — they actually met for the first time in 1st grade.  One of her favorite memories of her husband happened at Homecoming. “Tim and his brothers (and my best friend) picked my car up and turned it sideways in the parking spot…and yes, I still married him.” She summarizes her time in at BCS with this observation: “In Belfast we have such an amazing culture that doesn’t exist everywhere.”
