Anne Histed

Anne Histed graduated with the class of 2001 and is a resident of Belfast. She attended SUNY Brockport for her undergrad, where her majors were Childhood Education and Mathematics,  Roberts Wesleyan for her first Masters in Special Education, and St. Bonaventure for her second Masters in Educational Leadership. Anne currently works at Belfast Central as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. Previously, she was a high school resource room teacher at LeRoy Central School in 2007 and a math teacher at Scio Central upon moving back into the area in 2010. In 2013, she applied for a position with CABOCES as a Curriculum Coordinator, thinking that she would “go out and see the world.”  However, BOCES placed her as a Curriculum Coordinator/Staff Specialist at Belfast Central School and Genesee Valley, bringing her back to her home.

When asked for her favorite high school memories, she had many. She says that when she looks back on many of her memories, Mr. Doell, a former principal, was a major part of them. “Each awards assembly, school play, sporting event, or school function, he took our pictures and hung them up on his own bulletin board, he was so proud of everything we did. He also supported us by coming to our games and would cut out newspaper articles that featured us.”

She also recalls that many of her memories were made with Belfast staff, such as Mr. Bill Heaney, Mrs. Eva Heaney, Ms. Pam Miller, and Mr. Mike Nelson, and they all made a difference in her high school years. When asked to give advice for future graduates, one of her important points was to continue to work hard and treat every day as if it’s an interview for a future job.  She added that it’s a smaller world than many might think and that there are always people watching other’s actions. “These people may impact your future success,” she said.
