“Legging It” for Lucy

Legging It for Lucy

Joanne Ross

“Legging it” with Lucy is a 2.5 mile walk on Sunday, October 22.

Lucy Hadsell Burr’s story…

Lucy was so excited to start Kindergarten.  Prior to starting school, she needed her vaccination records updated.  At the end of August during her doctor’s examination, Dr. Cusumano didn’t like the feel of something on her left side.  She was sent immediately for x-rays and through the facilitation at Cuba Memorial, those results prompted the doctor to send her for an MRI. Lucy was diagnosed with a Diffuse Anaplastic Renal Cancer (Wilms) tumor.  On the day she was supposed to start Kindergarten with her friends, September 5, four-year-old Lucy underwent an 8-hour surgery to have her left kidney completely removed.

There will be numerous trips to Buffalo, visiting nurse preparations, and many equipment expenses and deductibles for the family to finance.  Your help and generosity are greatly appreciated by Lucy and her family.

Please join Coach Joanne Ross (Lucy’s former Preschool teacher) and the Belfast-Friendship Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Team to help raise money in support of Lucy as she undergoes further treatment for Renal Cancer.
