Enders Breaks Record
October 9, 2017
On Sept. 26th, Adam Enders set a new Varsity Boys’ Soccer scoring while playing versus Hinsdale to set a record at 91 goals! The previous scoring record was set in 1994 by Adam’s uncle, Jeff Enders. Below is an interview with Adam about his achievement.
Q: Did you anticipate beating this record before the season started? Why/why not?
A: I was expecting to break this record because I was only about 18 goals away and I had scored 35 the season before. But I also did not want to get ahead of myself.
Q: How does it feel to have been so successful athletically (with this record and others) so early in your HS career?
A: I’ve always given credit to everyone who has helped me throughout my career including the family, coaches, and especially teammates. Everything that I have accomplished wouldn’t have been possible without them.
Q: Where do you see this year’s soccer season headed?
A: This year’s soccer team is almost the exact same as last year’s and last year was a very good stepping stone to where we want to be. I think that there is a good possibility to make it to the Section V D2 finals with a chance to win.
Q: What response have you received to your achievement from family, teammates, and fans?
A: Everyone has been very happy and very proud of the way I have played. Everywhere I go, I am greeted with handshakes and congratulations.
Q: What’s next for you in the world of sports?
A: For me, it’s the next game. I’ve always taken everything day by day. If you look too far ahead, you don’t realize what you should be focusing on.
Q: What are you thinking about for after high school?
A: After high school the goal is to play a sport in college while continuing my education. I’m hoping that my athletics can help me pay for some of college.
