West Wins Angelo Melaro Writing Contest

Congratulations to Tyler West for winning first place among senior entries in the Angelo Melaro Writing Contest!  Named after former English teacher and administrator at Franklinville Central School Angelo Melaro, the contest includes one team from each school in Allegany and Cattaraugus counties, including a ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade student.  Each grade level’s entries are judged by a team of English teachers and selections made of first through fourth place, with cash awards given to those who place.  The contest alternates between creative and essay writing every other year.  Students are given ninety minutes to respond to a prompt.  Three other students were chosen to represent their grade level in this contest:  Elisa Houser for ninth, Ashley Estabrook for tenth, and Ethan Blocho for eleventh.  All did excellent work and their entries can be read at  http://bit.ly/2mr2uds.
