The community has been showing support for the family of Parker Davis, a seven year old from Belmont diagnosed with brain cancer.

According to Parker’s mother Kerri, a BCS graduate, Parker finished ten weeks of the induction phase of chemotherapy on March 30th and then had a three week break before he began the maintenance phase. At this time, about forty percent of Parker’s tumor was producing cysts. The community has shown support for this young boy. Students and others have worn red or “ParkerStrong” t-shirts to show their awareness and to encourage Parker. There was a also benefit in Angelica for community members to come and offer their support during this hard time.

An update from April 6th revealed that Parker came out of surgery and the scans indicated that most of the tumor was removed. They will now continue monitoring and wait for a more complete pathology report from St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. On April 6th, two days after his surgery, Parker was listening to music and playing basketball outside and was cleared to head home. We are all  hoping to hear more good news as Parker continues to heal.
