According to  The Washington Times article, “Gun Crime Gallery,” “in 2013, a shooter opened fire at Prince Middle School in Atlanta, Georgia. However, after wounding only one student, the suspect was disarmed by an armed guard who was stationed at the school.”  A mass school shooting could have happened if the guard with a firearm wasn’t there. Gun control should be abolished.

In 2013, the Secure Ammunitions and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act limited the accessibility of guns and ammo set in place by governor Andrew Cuomo. According to“The NY Safe Act of 2013 bans semi-auto rifles, shotguns, and pistols that have the features – such as a pistol grip, a folding stock or a flash suppressor. Some people today think gun control is a joke, but to others it is a serious matter concerning our nation.

In the late 1700s,  American revolutionists were bearing arms to escape the oppression of Great Britain and to become a free nation. On December 15, 1791, as part of the American Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment of the right to bear arms was established and is helping contain the idea of gun control and keep it from getting bigger than it is, like prohibiting all guns to the open public, which would get rid of hunting and such.

Some guns have other purposes besides harming humans. Have you ever had fresh meat like venison or wild turkey? There is a significant taste difference between store packaged and fresh. The reason behind this is a hunter most likely woke up bright and early and sat around all day waiting to get a chance at some meat , instead of using his gun for heinous crimes like the Sandy Hook shooting Committed by Adam Lanza. Charleton Heston once said, “Let me make a short opening, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a decent man is no threat to anybody except a bad man.” This supports my opinion that everyone should have a chance to wield a gun until they give us a reason to wield ours back for self protection.

So whatever your opinion, whether it be for or against gun control, just know that the government can never infringe on our “right to bear arms.”
